CLARIS PLATFORM UPDATES

Expanding access to Agentic Development for FileMaker with a developer preview.

Claris FileMaker's goal, from the very beginning, was to let one person build something that used to require a team and advanced technical skills.

Thanks to FileMaker developers, entire categories of work that were never going to justify a software project suddenly had one, making FileMaker an incredible accelerator for more than 40 years.

By placing Agentic Development for FileMaker in the hands of FileMaker developers, that accelerator is now stronger than ever.

Since we announced our plans in May, our teams have been heads-down working to deliver the best possible experience. As we progressed through the early development cycles, we ran an invite-only program that allowed a select group of partners and developers to test early functionality, and they have shared strong positive feedback on how it’s making FileMaker an even better tool to continue solving problems.

Today, I’m glad to announce that we’re expanding access to a larger group of FileMaker developers that can apply to join a Developer Preview program specifically designed for this new capability. Requests to participate will be reviewed and accepted on a rolling basis.

In December, early access to Agentic Development for FileMaker will be open to anyone who wants to try it. General availability will be released by late February 2027.

FileMaker developers who have been testing Agentic Development for FileMaker have told us consistently that it’s accelerating their performance and elevating their work.

Claris partner and CIO Ian Jempson, who advises firms on implementing AI strategy at the platform level told us, "Writing the same script for the hundredth time isn't really helping anybody. It gets boring, and it's expensive for the client when that money could go toward something with a bigger return.”

A Claris partner used Agentic Development for FileMaker to refactor a complex test management system for a client in the manufacturing industry. He shared that he was able to deliver user experiences that wouldn’t be economically viable otherwise. Work that would previously have taken months now takes days. They also delivered web-based interface features that are usually difficult to build: smooth scrolling across thousands of records, nested expandable tables, sortable columns, interactive dependency matrices, and Gantt charts.

CadenceUX founder Darrin Southern said that Agentic Development enables "a greater percentage of your time to be spent on problem-solving, rather than coding. There's no greater time than now to start your agentic journey. Claris has now allowed the direct connection that allows AI to talk to the FileMaker application.”

How Agentic Development for FileMaker builds with you.

AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex make it easier to generate a custom application, but developers must figure out how to build and maintain the full stack: data, logic, interface, runtime, security, and cross-platform delivery. Builders still need a platform that delivers production-ready business solutions, with data security, hosting, and user management built -in. Claris FileMaker remains the foundation needed to implement solutions.

With Agentic Development for FileMaker, your AI coding agent of choice can understand your ask and perform the work directly in your file, whether you’re building a new application or updating an existing one. You can complete projects faster and more accurately because the agents natively understand how FileMaker files are built and can perform every task within the platform:

  • Read and write your FileMaker files directly. The agents read and operate on your file through the same pathways of FileMaker Pro. No clipboard and XML exports are involved. Your AI coding agent can see and operate on database schema, layouts, scripts and calculations with the same level of detail as FileMaker.
  • Work across the full stack. Thanks to this approach, agentic development can make sense and work on any FileMaker solution, even those with hundreds of scripts and extensive entity relationship graphs. Inheriting solutions that lack documentation, comments, or coding convention is no longer an issue.
  • Keep everything inspectable. One of FileMaker’s strengths has always been that you can open a solution and understand exactly how it works. With agentic development, that doesn’t change. The agents build with the same script steps, field types, calculations, and layouts you use today, so you’re still able to read, edit, and maintain all its work in FileMaker. You can review every change and decide what actually goes into the file.

This approach keeps results accurate and the changes consistent. Some things are better shown than described, so I recommend that you watch our demo of Agentic Development for FileMaker.

We’ve got you covered.

Agentic Development for FileMaker is going to mark a monumental shift for the FileMaker ecosystem, one that I know will change the way we work and amplify value we bring to customers.

As we move ahead, we want to make sure you can move with us. We're investing in programs to help you learn these capabilities and put them to work. Wherever you are in your AI journey, there’s a place to start:

  • Live training sessions led by Richard Carlton
  • Regular office hours with our team
  • New video tutorials and documentation

If you're ready to build, I'd like you to be part of what comes next. I hope you’ll join our beta programs and help us create the future of the platform.
