Batchelor Associates was founded in 1999, by Christian Batchelor, who has a Masters Degree in Computer
Related Design (Interface Design) from the Royal College of Art in London. Prior to this, Christian spent 4
years at in the Tools group at Dorling Kindersley Multimedia, streamlining and automating aspects of
multimedia production. He designed and built the FileMaker system which was used by a team of 30
people to produce the content for the Dorling Kindersley Children's Encyclopedia CD-ROM.
These days, most of our time is spent building relatively complex bespoke database solutions, in such
diverse such as property management, headhunting, book publishing and lead generation. We develop on
Mac OS, but our largest clients run Windows. We built and deployed a very large FileMaker system on
Microsoft Terminal Server which is used by 50 users around the UK.
We also have a good understanding of SQL databases, and can if needed integrate FileMaker solutions
with SQL databases and web-sites based on technologies such as PHP and Ruby-on-Rails.
